Cool ios 14 home screen ideas7/31/2023 "To tie it all back together, even studyblr people will share their bullet journal layouts or their worksheets and be so proud of feedback," Brennan said. But the way people have been sharing their home screens across social media in recent days is highly reminiscent of yet another Tumblr trend: that of posting fan art, edits and other creative content and asking for feedback. Instead they tend to be for you and you alone to look at, the tech equivalent of decorating your bedroom. Unlike Tumblr blogs or other social media profiles, home screens aren't usually outward facing - a way to share your interests and present yourself to the world. "It really feels like people are longing for that time where the internet was something that wasn't touching every single part of our lives," she said. It's not altogether surprising that, in a year when people have had to rely on the internet in ways they never have before, there's nostalgia for a different kind of technology experience, Brennan said - one where you have more control, one that's less stressful. This represents a time when using the internet wasn't such a streamlined experience, and people would spend an hour or two online before completely logging off. Webcore is, at its heart, a nostalgic trend that's all about embracing the aesthetics of the early internet - zany graphics, cutesy Neopets, MySpace, dial-up. The coronavirus pandemic has also boosted a macro-trend on Tumblr this year called Webcore, which feeds into many of the design choices people are making about their home screens - playing with fonts and customizing icons and even going all out and creating a Windows 98-inspired, or Microsoft Paint-inspired home screen. "Having an 'aesthetic af' home screen can spark creativity in other aspects of your life," she said. Mogus also believes that taking control of your digital space can impact your mindset. September is back-to-school time, making it a particularly popular month to organize your life. Timing could also be an important factor when trying to understand why people have embraced aesthetic home screens with such verve, Brennan said. "It's where the people who are maybe a little less mainstream will find their thing, and it'll just get out into the rest of the internet." "Tumblr is where these trends ignite," she said.

Super shuttle la guardia7/30/2023 The 7 train always runs to 74th Street, day or night. On the West side, only the 2 train runs to 125th Street, and on the East side only the 4 and 6 trains go to 125th. Going to LGA on the Subway/Bus At NightĪt night, the options available to those using public transit to reach LaGuardia Airport change a bit. If that section of New York is having problems (The 2006 power outage in Queens that lasted 5 days played havoc with the New York Subway system) a popular alternative is to take the 7 train out to 74th Street in Corona (it has escalators, and the E, F, G, R, and V trains also stop there), go downstairs, and ride the Q33 bus to LGA (also a free transfer with your MetroCard). It, too, takes about 20 minutes after your 15-minute ride on the 7 train. If it’s a weekday, remember to take a local 7 train, as express trains bypass 74th Street. Keep in mind, however, that if you’re going to the Marine Air Terminal, you need to take the Q47 bus from 74th Street, since the Q33 does not stop there. This method of getting to LaGuardia Airport will take about 45 minutes from midtown Manhattan, longer if you use one of the more westerly subway stations. Many of our subway testers have found the Astoria Boulevard route is the best, but that assumes that the N and W lines are running properly. If you exit one of these stations you will find an M60 MTA bus that is both regular and reliable. There are two basic ways to do this – the first is to get to any New York subway station where you can make a free transfer to the M60 LaGuardia bus – This bus runs across 125st in Manhattan and then into Queens and up to LaGuardia Airport – the most optimal subway stations to get this bus are Astoria Boulevard in Queens (N and W lines) or one of the three 125 Street stations in Manhattan that serve 4,5 and 6 lines, 2 and 3 lines or the A,B,C,D lines. With a little exercise, you can travel to LaGuardia from Manhattan for just $3. Subway/Bus Combo – Cheapest Method to LaGuardia Airport Your best bet to LaGuardia from Manhattan is the subway/bus combo. When I called for a blue Super Shuttle van, it arrived on time, traffic was light, but the van made a few pickups at hotels – which felt like a bus tour of New York – it took me 53 minutes to get to LaGuardia from a W. Airlink provides the same service for $13. There are shared-ride, on-demand van services like Super Shuttle, which will pick you up anywhere in Manhattan and get you out to LaGuardia Airport in about 45-50 minutes. However, the fare is a moderate $12, and, again, depending on the time of day and the weather, it’ll take you about 45-60 minutes (after you’ve made it to Grand Central or the PA) to get to LaGuardia. The New York Airport express bus from Grand Central or Port Authority Bus Terminal to LaGuardia runs between 7:20 AM and 11 PM, so red-eye travelers are out of luck. A private limo is clearly the height of luxury, but the fares start at around $50. My yellow cab got me from 42nd Street & Vanderbilt to LaGuardia in just under 40 minutes, and the fare was $27, plus $4.50 for the Triboro Bridge toll, and a gratuity. If you don’t have your own a car, another alternative to get to LaGuardia from Manhattan might be a taxi, limo or express Bus. Taxi, Limo, or Express Bus to LaGuardia Airport Long-term parking is available at LaGuardia on a limited basis. On a bad day traveling to LaGuardia from Manhattan, you might get stuck in Midtown Tunnel traffic, or on the Long Island Expressway near Queens Blvd. From Midtown you can shoot through the Midtown Tunnel, take the Long Island Expressway to the Grand Central Parkway going toward the Triboro Bridge, roll past Shea Stadium, and on a good day you’ll be at LaGuardia Airport in about 35 minutes. To get to LaGuardia from Manhattan via car, take the Grand Central Parkway that stretches across Long Island abuts the LGA property. LaGuardia from Manhattan Using Your Own Car LaGuardia Airport is geographically the closest to Manhattan of the three NYC-area airports, but routes and methods for reaching LGA from Manhattan differ in cost, reliability, and comfort. In New York City, both LaGuardia Airport and JFK are located in Queens and logistical know-how often carries the day in getting to both of them. Located at 90-01 Grand Central Parkway in Astoria, Queens, LaGuardia Airport (LGA for short) is the 2 nd largest airport in the New York area and primarily handles domestic flights in the US rather than general New York Flights. What Method of Transportation ? LaGuardia Airport List of Travel Methodsīy Car Taxi, Limo, or Express Bus Subway / Bus Combo Limo / Helicopter Our Recommendation and Table The trip to LaGuardia from Manhattan from is dreaded by many, as it is the closest airport to the City, with the least amount of choices of travel – Sometimes it seems like the ride out to the airport is longer and more arduous than the flight itself. Travel Directions to LaGuardia Airport (LGA) from Midtown Manhattan

Apple is currently working on getting this fixed to make the users' experience smoother. There could be problems with the compatibility of the applications with the new iOS 16 causing it to crash. This is an issue that some users of the iOS 16 beta have already been reporting upon downloading this update.

Chicken coop for sale near me7/30/2023 With housing available for a flock of three birds through to larger 15-bird houses, it's apparent these were designed by poultry keepers with the backyard keeper in mind. They give due consideration to combining function and form, producing a house that's not only practical but also makes a pleasant addition to the look of the garden. This Devon-based business offer a huge range of wooden poultry houses all handcrafted and finished to a high standard. As long as the house is designed with both the keeper and the poultry in mind, and preferably designed by somebody whose experience of poultry extends beyond a visit to the butcher, then they both wooden and plastic housing serve their purpose in equal measure. I use both and they each have their pros and cons: in the end it can be down to personal preference. The plastic v wooden debate has been going on in the poultry world for a few years now. Inadequate ventilation coupled with a non-breathable material such as plastic will result in moisture running down the walls, resulting in a damp floor litter that leades to fungal growth and respiratory disorders in the birds. Wood is a naturally breathable product and a well-designed wooden house will not suffer from condensation, which can be a problem in poultry housing. They are also far easier to repair should the need arise. Wooden houses offer a far greater level of flexibility and modification with housing available not only to meet the specific needs of your specific breeds, but also the needs of your garden. Plastic housing represents a fraction of the market when it comes to available options. So what's to be said for wooden housing? The cost of a high quality wooden ones will be in the same region as the plastic designs (avoid the poorly constructed cheap and nasty wood built houses mentioned in my last post), so there's little in it from a price perspective. In the height of summer your flock may not require the house for the whole day and so cleaning and drying times won't be relevant, but on bad weather days you won't want the house out of action for too long or for the birds to face roosting in a soggy house. This advantage should not be underestimated. Many of the plastic designs can be cleaned out, washed and dried in under 30 minutes, while wooden housing will take significantly longer to dry, especially in the depths of winter. The cleaning of plastic houses is much easier than wooden housing, and maintenance is practically zero. Where plastic house construction does come into its own versus wood is when it comes to cleaning and annual maintenance. Well if red mite are only present on birds when they are asleep, how can they be transported to poultry and poultry housing by wild birds - sleepwalking sparrows perhaps? Agreed, a house that minimises the cracks and crevices stands a fair better chance of not harbouring a red mite population, but that doesn't mean you or your poultry will necessarily be red mite-free: very little other than vigilance and good animal husbandry will stop the charge of the mite brigade. Let's face it, the other widely-held belief is that wild birds transport red mite. The consensus is that red mite lives in cracks in the housing and come out to feed on the birds blood at night when they are roosting but this isn't not the whole truth – red mite can and will live on the bird if the conditions are favourable. I've seen one or two adverts that stake the claim that plastic housing is red mite-proof. For those familiar with it, you will no doubt be itching by now, in the knowledge that they are not opposed to trying out a human as a potential host. All this makes red mite the bane of the poultry keeper's life and something that is capable of killing your flock. And they can survive without feeding for up to nine months. In the right conditions it can complete its life cycle of egg to egg-laying adult in seven days, so populations can explode if they're not dealt with quickly and effectively. For those that are not familiar with this little devil, it's a small ectoparasite that feeds on the blood of poultry and other bird species.

St louis national park7/30/2023 Our hope for visitors today, is that you get a little sense of what it might've been like to be Ulysses or his family returning to this place they called home, after so many years of being away. Despite this, Grant and Julia do continue returning to the estate and actually visit here six documented times as President and First Lady. Louis and instead moved to New York City where they retire. And when his daughter moved to England, he and Julia reconsidered their plans to move back to St. Three of his children ended up in New York and New Jersey. But after eight long years in the White House, their children had all grown up and moved away. Now, the Grants make all of these changes thinking that they're going to come home and retire here. It's a color known as Paris Green, which believe it or not, was very popular at the time. On top of that in 1874, Ulysses and Julia pick out the color that we see on the outside of the house today. Additionally, Grant designed a large horse stable for the property, which now houses our park museum. For instance, if you take the tour here at White Haven, one room you may notice is a small kitchen off the back of the house. And in the years following the civil war, Grant not only purchased this estate from his father-in-law, but throughout his presidency, began upgrading the property in many ways that visitors will still see today. Ultimately, Grant wanted to come back to Missouri and be a farmer again. And with this fame came all kinds of attention that Grant really didn't care for. Eventually becoming the top commander in the US military. Within a month, Grant was promoted from Colonel to Brigadier General, and over the next three and a half years, Grant won more than a dozen major battles for the union army. When the civil war broke out in 1861, Ulysses Grant was living in Northern Illinois, but was quick to volunteer his services to the union army. Grant's exposure to slavery at White Haven, undoubtedly affected his viewpoints on slavery and civil rights moving forward into his generalship and his work as 18th president of the United States. A job, which by the way, positioned Grant side by side with upwards of 20 enslaved African Americans owned by his father-in-law. During this time, Grant worked a number of odd jobs from collecting rent to selling firewood and even working as a farm hand right here on the estate. Louis with his family, primarily here at White Haven with his in-laws. For the next five and a half years Ulysses Grant lived in St. In that same year, he resigned his commission and moved back to White Haven to live here on the farm full time. For the next several years, Grant spent quite a bit of time traveling with the military, but by 1854 had grown tired of life separated from his loved ones. Louis and married Julia here in her hometown. As Grant was away fighting in the Mexican American war for nearly four years. This engagement, however, would prove to be a long one. Shortly after meeting here on the estate, Ulysses and Julia began a courtship which would last nearly four months, and conclude with a secret engagement to be married. When Grant arrived here on the property he not only met the Dent family for the first time, but he was also introduced to his future wife, Julia Dent Grant. Louis, Grant was quickly invited out to the childhood home of his West Point roommate, Frederick Dent. Louis where he was stationed at the nearby Jefferson barracks. Natural light alarm clock for cruise7/30/2023 If you plan a cross-Gulf of Alaska cruise with a few days in Denali, Fairbanks or Anchorage (or all of them!) you’re probably going to need to pack a little differently than for just an Inside Passage cruise.įor one thing, it can get fairly hot in the summer in Fairbanks and very drizzly and damp in Denali. If your cruise is longer or you’ve chosen a cruise and tour, I also include how and what to pack.īasically, you would pack the same but plan on either sending out a load of laundry on the ship, doing a sink wash or hauling it into a town to a laundromat. My Alaska packing list covers everything you’ll need to pack for a 7-day Alaska cruise, like my Holland America Eurodam Inside Passage cruise. Especially if you cruise early or late in the season in May or September. A cross-Gulf cruise will give you the time to spend in Alaska’s interior before or after your cruise. These Alaska cruises can also be seven nights with departures northbound from Vancouver and Seattle or southbound from Seward and Whittier, Alaska. In this case, you can easily spend a couple of days on land before or after your cruise. On the other hand, choose a small ship adventure cruise and your ship will probably embark and disembark in either Juneau or Sitka. On any seven-night round-trip Inside Passage cruise from the Lower 48, you won’t have the opportunity to spend a couple of days in Alaska before or after your cruise. A one-week Alaska cruise spends two days northbound and the same back plus three or four Alaska cruise ports, all in the Inside Passage. The overwhelming majority of ships for seven-night round-trip cruises to Alaska depart from either Seattle or Vancouver, Canada. Your Alaska Cruise Itinerary Can Determine What to Pack Inside Passage Cruise I hope my Alaska cruise packing list and tips help you to be prepared for one of the most incredible cruise and land experiences of a life time. How to pack for an Alaska cruise in still-chilly May, in hot and buggy mid-July or possibly rainy September, all follow my basic packing guidelines. My cruises to Alaska happened in every month of the cruise season. I’ve cruised Alaska up and down the Inside Passage at least a dozen times plus four cross-Gulf voyages. It only took me two cruises to Alaska to figure out what I should have packed…or left at home. Plus a carry-on and/or backpack for electronics, toiletries, documents and meds. And hopefully fit it all into one suitcase. My point is, most likely you’ll need to pack cruise clothes and land clothes. Will you spend time pre- or post-cruise in Alaska, Seattle or Vancouver? What sort of shore excursions do you plan to do?Īnd of course, the month you choose to cruise Alaska can be significant to determine what you’ll pack. When figuring what to pack for a cruise to Alaska, it’s all about knowing what you plan to do on your incredible adventure to the 49th state. First amendment us constitution7/30/2023 Q: If there was one misconception about the First Amendment, what would it be and how would you explain it to people? But what it does protect is the right of a speaker not to be excluded from a public platform like a college campus based on the content of their speech or the viewpoint they are expressing. The Constitution doesn’t really guarantee speakers a platform. The expression of ideas can be regulated if they move toward conduct, or action, that presents a more immediate threat to individuals or public safety. On campus, the same principle applies, even if the ideas are offensive. Q: The First Amendment prevents the government from arresting people for what they say, but who says the Constitution guarantees speakers a platform on campus?īanks: The First Amendment safeguards against government censorship of ideas, or the viewpoint or content of speech. If we didn’t have First Amendment protection, how would we know what the government is doing in our name? What kind of questions do we ask about this? What are the foundational things we believe in? To me, it’s just such a huge and important privilege we should appreciate and enjoy. Even though you may disagree, you have the right to think it and say it. What people don’t understand is that it has been around for 200 years and it is still timely. Leach: If you are concerned about ideas or expressions, the First Amendment is really compelling and still a timely freedom that we shouldn’t take for granted. One can’t fully appreciate what it means to be an American if you don’t understand the First Amendment. Goodman: It reflects principles that are fundamental to American democracy: the necessity of a free press, the importance of religious freedom, the value of people gathering to share ideas and protest, for example. Q: Why is having an understanding of the First Amendment important?
